Compulsive need to share ideal band names: #1

The Six Simple Machines.

Why is there not a band with this name? I would go hear them. Plus, I love the actual six machines: see www.mikids.com.

Can you name them? I couldn't. But when I read them, I had a Kubrick moment, monkey-people with tools flailing:

The pulley; the lever; the wedge (see, this is like U2's The Edge!); the wheel and axle (Axel); the inclined plane; the screw. PLUS who knew: a screw is an inclined plane wrapped around a pole which holds things together or lifts materials.

OK, It's Ashbery

"So that the old joy, modest as cake, as wine and friendship
Will stay with us at the last, backed by the night Whose ruse gave it our final meaning"
