That's a mere eight years ago. So, like, just before Bush became president, this gated community was still excluding anyone who wasn't white. So, like, from 1956 until 2000, when Bush was Governor of Texas, this community excluded people of color. Unless you needed a live-in maid or nanny. Who could be of color. And be allowed to live there. Only as a servant.

And actually? The owners signed the amendments in July of 2000, but the amendments removing the restrictions weren't recorded until February of 2001. Bush assumed the office of the presidency on January 20, 2001.
